Case Study: Lauterstein

Ingeborg Lauterstein was born in Vienna, Austria and lived there during the Nazi occupation in World War II. Having published two books in the 1980s, The Water Castle and Vienna Girl, by the 2000s she found her books out of print and unavailable. Though she republished her works independently on paper, Ingeborg still sought out means to keep her books current and globally accessible. This “content imperative” brought her to OBS. We converted her two novels into eBook formats, making them available on e-readers such as the Kindle, Nook, and iPad.

OBS's Role:

  • Scanning of books into PDF format
  • Conversion of PDFs into EPUB and MOBI formats
  • Creation of publisher accounts for distribution through major e-tailers
  • Upload of content to various distribution outlets
