“Long Time Passing”: Herrick brings Vietnam to Rockport

Our business at Open Book Systems, Inc., focuses largely on internet-based publishing solutions for companies and nonprofits. But every now and again, we return to our roots in traditional book publishing in support of extraordinary projects.

Author John Herrick found OBS president Laura Fillmore thanks to an acknowledgement author Joe Garland made to her in his book “Unknown Soldiers: Reliving World War II in Europe,” John Herrick, AKA Jasper Higgins, sent Laura his manuscript telling about his experiences on the ground, fighting in Vietnam, an American soldier drafted in 1967. It’s the only book he’s written; his prose catches the reader and won’t let go.

While OBS is representing his book to trade publishers, the author is coming to Rockport, Massachusetts on Saturday, May 18 at 1:30pm to do a slide show and a reading at the local public library. Vietnam is still very much part of his life today, and at this event he will share with us some of the reasons why.
